- Our Firm
A house truly becomes a home through the details. For many homeowners looking to build or renovate their homes, trying to visualize a two-dimensional drawing as a three-dimensional space can be daunting. Most people need to ‘see’ the space to feel comfortable moving ahead. For the Stark project our 3-D computer modeling program that allowed us to show the homeowners what their finished remodel would look like complete with lighting, furniture, views and more.
The Starks were interested in remodeling their basement to include a wine cellar, living room and en suite bathroom for the guest bedroom. They also wanted to take advantage of the atmosphere that the creek running through the property creates.
In order to transform their home we gutted the lower portion of the residence. The wine room required a ventilation system to promote climate control and humidity control. This space had to be functional as well as visually appealing, which we achieved through custom wine rack shelves that were built locally in Steamboat Springs along with wine displays and accent lighting. To enter the room you step up into the space, which allows for a new relationship to be created with the room. The wine room is also accessible from the outside, extending the outdoor entertainment space.
As well as a wine room, the lower level boasts a guest suite, en suite bathroom and main living space. For the lower living area we pulled in some detailing of timbers and added strapping detail to it. The living room also opens to the outdoors and to a patio with an in-ground pool landscaped with rocks to blend in with the natural surroundings. The en suite bathroom was accented with onyx, which was backlit for a warm amber glow.
Each concept of the remodel was rendered in three-dimensional modeling before the project began. Allowing the client to see the space realistically, finished and furnished gave them the comfort they needed to proceed with the project while it pushed our abilities to render in a photorealistic way.
