What happens when an architecture firm unleashes their talent on a vast mountain homesite?

To celebrate the creativity of our architectural design team and encourage new ways of thinking, GB Design Build launched an internal custom home design competition. Each designer was challenged to create a completely original mountain home from the same property, demonstrating their individual approach to residential architecture, functionality, and the opportunities presented by the site.
While every designer started with the same homesite, no two solutions are alike. Each concept reflects a different interpretation of the landscape, the homeowner’s lifestyle, and the unique opportunities presented by the property. The result is a collection of distinctive custom home designs that showcases the creativity, technical expertise, and collaborative design-build process behind every GB Design Build project.
This competition represents more than a creative exercise. It reflects the way our team approaches every custom home by exploring possibilities, solving complex architectural challenges, and continually refining ideas to create homes that are as functional as they are timeless. By encouraging experimentation and individual perspective, we strengthen our ability to deliver thoughtful, one-of-a-kind homes for clients throughout Steamboat Springs and beyond.
