Wolf Mountain Retreat

This home has been designed as a place of retreat and is enclosed by a stone wall that shelters it from the prevailing northwesterly winds while anchoring it to the mountainside as a permanent place of refuge for its occupants. The garage is elevated above the primary living spaces to minimize the extent of site grading. Dormer forms were incorporated into the upper level to increase headroom while allowing the overall massing of the home to remain compact. These vernacular forms were intended to create a home that feels as though it has belonged to the mountainside for generations.
