ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS
The Starks were interested in remodeling their basement to include a wine cellar, living room and en suite bathroom for the guest bedroom. They also wanted to take advantage of the atmosphere that having a creek running through the property creates.
In order to transform the home, we gutted the lower portion of the residence. The wine room required a ventilation system to promote climate control and humidity control. This space had to be functional as well as visually appealing, which we achieved through custom wine rack shelves that were built locally in Steamboat Springs, along with wine displays and accent lighting. The wine room is also accessible from the outside, extending the outdoor entertainment space.
For the lower living area, we pulled in some detailing of timbers with hammered strapping for a rugged elegant look. The living room opens to the outdoors, connecting to the patio and pool, which are landscaped with rocks to blend in with the natural surroundings.
As well as a wine room, the lower level boasts a guest suite, en suite bathroom and main living space. The bathroom was accented with onyx, which is backlit for a warm amber glow.
Each concept of the remodel was rendered in 3-D modeling before the project began. By allowing the client to see the space realistically, finished and furnished, this gave them confidence and comfort to proceed with the project.
