TREE HOUSE TRANSFORMATION

Matt and Beverly purchased a Steamboat home in the Tree Haus neighborhood that had spectacular views across the valley to the ski mountain, but the home was an outdated structure from the 1970’s and it needed a facelift. Undeterred, they had a bold vision to update it with new exterior finishes, better functioning garage space, and a new covered outdoor living space.
Our design team created an updated floorplan where the existing undersized garage transformed into desirable storage space; a new, larger garage added more comfortable and usable space for vehicles; and the existing dining room became connected to a new partially covered roof deck which would accommodate outdoor dining and living.
To add textural interest, we added structural timber columns, beams, and rafters, rusted standing seam siding panels, and we replaced the solid brown-colored siding with rich natural cedar and olive-green siding. The timbers provide much needed warmth and structural detailing, creating a framework for the new outside covered dining space. The result was a dramatic transformation to a beautiful, modern mountain home.
